Basic Emergency Kit
Every household should have these essential items ready:
Water and Food
- Water: 3 litres per person per day for at least 3 days
- Non-perishable food for at least 3 days
- Manual can opener
- Eating utensils
Safety and First Aid
- First aid kit
- Flashlight and extra batteries (AA/AAA), USB power banks (charged)
- Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
- Whistle to signal for help
Documents and Communication
- Copies of important documents in waterproof container
- Mobile phone with chargers, cables and backup battery
- Printed and laminated emergency contact list
Personal Items
- Prescription medications (at least a week’s supply)
- Glasses or contact lenses
- Infant formula and nappies (if needed)
- Pet food and supplies (if needed)
Tools
- Multi-purpose tool
- Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
